"Failure Did Not Cancel the Call"
Discovering the Heart of Discipleship
Pages 19 - 26
Peter denied Jesus, yet Jesus restored him.
His failure did not disqualify him. It refined him.
Key scripture: John 21:17
“Feed My sheep.”
Peter’s denial was public and painful, yet Jesus addressed it with restoration, not rejection. Growth includes failure, and restoration is part of discipleship.
Discussion Questions
What stands out to you about how Jesus handled
Peter after the denial?
How does Peter’s restoration change how we view
our own failures?
Takeaway Thought
Peter’s calling came before his maturity, and his purpose remained after failure. Jesus did not wait for Peter to become steady before He called him, and He did not withdraw the assignment when Peter fell short. The call was rooted in God’s vision, not Peter’s performance.

“Faithfulness Without the Spotlight”
Discovering the Heart of Discipleship
Pages 27 - 35
Andrew brought people to Jesus quietly and consistently.
He did not seek recognition. He trusted the impact of obedience.
Key Scripture: John 1:41
“We have found the Messiah.”
Andrew’s discipleship was marked by alignment rather than ambition. His first response to encountering Jesus was to bring someone else to Him. Scripture repeatedly shows Andrew noticing what others overlooked and offering it to Christ without needing assurance of the outcome. His influence flowed through connection, not position.
Discussion Questions
What does Andrew’s example teach us about influence that happens outside the spotlight?
What helps you stay spiritually attentive to the people and moments God places around you, and what habits or distractions make that harder?
Takeaway Thought
Andrew shows us that discipleship does not require visibility to be valuable. He did not build a platform. He built bridges. His faith was steady, attentive, and surrendered, trusting that obedience itself was enough. God multiplied what Andrew offered because Andrew was willing to bring what he had without competing for recognition.
